Isobel Gardner, CPsych, LMFT
Professional Qualifications
Isobel Gardner is a Chartered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist based in London, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, USA, and a certified mindfulness teacher with the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA).

She brings over 13 years of clinical experience working with adults and couples in private practice across Los Angeles and London, supporting clients both in person and internationally online.
Her clinical work has included dual-diagnosis addiction treatment centres and residential rehabilitation programmes in Los Angeles and Malibu, where she treated individuals and groups presenting with trauma, substance misuse, and complex psychological conditions. In addition, she completed intensive postgraduate training at The Maple Center in Beverly Hills, a well-regarded psychodynamic training institute, where she treated her own caseload under senior clinical supervision. This work focused on depth-oriented psychotherapy with high-functioning adults facing relational, emotional, and developmental challenges.
Before retraining in psychology, Isobel worked in the international film and media industry. This experience informs her work with professionals, creatives, and internationally mobile clients navigating the pressures of demanding careers, family life, professional and life role transitions, and relational strain.
Having grown up in Stockholm, lived for three decades in the United States, and been based in London since 2020, Isobel brings a distinctly international and multicultural perspective to her work. Bilingual in Swedish and English, she works with clients across cultures and has particular experience supporting relocation, cross-cultural adaptation, and globally oriented professional lives.
She has undertaken advanced training in EMDR, integrative psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, and maintains an ongoing personal meditation and Zen practice. She is also a mother of three young adult children, which further informs her understanding of family life, caregiving, and the developmental task of guiding children into adulthood while navigating changing family roles and relationships.
She has been quoted in Esquire and has written on psychology for a number of publications, including The Psychologist, the monthly publication of the British Psychological Society. She also writes through her own blog on psychotherapy, trauma, mindfulness, and the psychological challenges of contemporary life

Client Reflection
There are not enough words to fully capture what Isobel has meant to me. I’ve held off writing this for a long time because it feels almost impossible to put into words. At one point, I was navigating deep trauma, struggling with emotional regulation, and unsure of how to move forward in a healthy way. Through working with Isobel, I didn’t just improve; I truly healed. I developed emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, mindfulness, and the ability to be present in my life in a way I never had before.
One day, I realized Isobel had been my North Star through it all.. and that’s exactly what she was. Steady, grounding, and always guiding me back to myself during the hardest moments.
Even now, after graduating from therapy, I still find myself asking, “What would Isobel say?” That kind of impact stays with you. Because of her, I am living a life that feels genuinely happy, peaceful, and fulfilled.. something I once thought impossible. I am incredibly grateful for her and the lasting impact she’s had on my life.
